Wolves drop home opener to Spartans
Yanczer and McKinnon lead scoring
December 06, 2008
The Wolves hoped to have a win for their season home opener against the North Greene Spartans. However, the first quarter prove to be lethal for the Wolves who scored only 4 points to the Spartans 21. Coach Ryan Benz's Wolves seemed to struggle with the inside game being outmatched in height by a tall North Green squad.
Jake Yanczer led the way for the Wolves in scoring with 12 followed by teammate Dylan McKinnon , 10. Rounding up the scoring was Jacob Garrison 9; Noah Gregurich 8; Evan Borrowman, 7; John Webster and Matt Gunterman with 3 each; Brian Black, 2.
"I was proud of the way we played," said assistant coach Black Skillman. Coach Skillman believes the Wolves will find a groove and begin to play with more intensity and confidence as the season progresses. This year's varsity team has some new faces with Jacob Garrison, who moved to P.Hill from Calhoun and freshmen matt Gunterman who is adding some height to the team.
The Wolves are off the week of Dec. 7-13. The Wolves schedule can be found under HS Boys Basketball on our school's website.
