Where did you graduate from HS: Pittsfield High School

Where did you attend college:Hannibal LaGrange College, William Jewell College, and Quincy University

How many years have you been teaching: 21 years

Current Duties & Responsibilities at PHGS:  Teach 7th grade Literature, Test coordinator, supervise all home games(5th-8th), Plan awards banquet in the spring, supervise lunchroom, plan & rehearse 8th grade promotion, responsible for 8th grade concession, and assist with any other duties as assigned when dean of students and superintendent are not on campus.   Are you married:        Yes                                          Spouse’s Name:  Merle

Hobbies:

Gardening (Flower and Vegetables) and Sewing

Who or what inspired you to become a teacher?

Who and what inspired me to become a teacher was Former Sunday school teachers, the fact that I love kids, and that when I was a little girl I was always playing school.

 What was your most memorable moment while teaching?

  I won KHQA Excellent Educator and Wal-Mart Teacher of the Year, and Those Who Excel Award of Special Recognition for the State of Illinois Teacher of the Year (2003-2004)

 What was your most embarrassing time while teaching?

 When I was giving students a pep talk at the beginning of the year and I used the wrong word.

What is your favorite thing about teaching?

  My favorite things about teaching are the students, having the privilege of challenging students, and watching their faces when they grasp concepts.
