Dear Parents:
We have started a new program this year called Accelerated Math. This is a sister program to Accelerated Reading but it is entirely different. This will be used at all grade levels with the upper grades utilizing the program more at the beginning of the year. As you may know, this was the program that Karen Dolbeare worked so hard to get established at our school district. We will slowly be using more of the program and it’s components as the year continues.
Basically, this is a computerized program that monitors your child’s progress mathematically. Worksheets and tests are assigned by your child’s ability level. After completing an assignment, it is automatically graded by using a scantron. There is instant feedback to the student, teacher, and parent on their grade. It will not allow your child to move on to the next math objective until they have mastered the current ones. Therefore, they will have more practice on math topics until they get it correct. This program is a supplement to the existing math program at Pleasant Hill Grade School. We feel Accelerated Math will increase your child’s basic math skills and math fluency by allowing us to target their weak areas more efficiently.
Please use theHomeConnect option which is available on the www.phwolves.com website. Choose the Accelerated Reading and Math tab on the right hand side. You are receiving a separate paper with your child’s username and password. You can access your child’s AR test results and AMath results online. You have the option of receiving an email when your child has taken a test or scored a math assignment.
Thanks,
Heather Spudich
