Senior Night for Lady Wolves

Thursday, February 5th was Senior Night for the seniors on the Lady Wolves basketball team. The four girls have been playing together since 5th grade and have been through a lot together. They entered their freshman year eager to get some varsity action. Coach Jeff Shireman also joined the girls basketball program that same year.
In the beginning, none of them knew how to react to their new coach. They had heard he had a “temper” to say the least. Coach Shireman took on the young group of athletes and whipped them into shape and in turn they seemed to soften him a little.
Over the last three years, only three of the girls were able to continue playing, but with the fourth back with them as they began their last year of basketball, the girls were hoping to surprise some people. Even though the year did not go as well as expected, the girls walked into the gym on Thursday with their heads held high. Silex put up a great fight and in the end the Lady Wolves were defeated by one, with a three point buzzer beater from the other team. The final score was 32-31. The girls are still looking forward to regionals and are still hoping to turn things around.
This years seniors are the Black twins, Macey and Madison, Alexis Damon and Paige Allen. Alexis, Madison and Macey played for Coach Shireman for four years of high school.
