Over the past few weeks, the 8th grade students have been learning about ecology in their science class. To demonstrate what they were learning about, the students had to build a biome in a box of any type of biome they chose. The requirements for this biome were the following: at least 15 biotic factors, 5 abiotic factors, a food web, a food chain, an energy pyramid, and a two page paper. The biome was due Friday, March 27th. The students turned in a variety of biomes, such as marine, desert, deciduous forest, rainforest, boreal forest, freshwater, and tundra biomes. All of the 8th graders showed a creative side with their projects.
“The biome project was a chance for the students to express their understanding of the material covered in a creative way. I am very proud of the quality of their projects,” Mrs. Spudich says.
