DARE students learn about the effects of alcohol

by Cyndi Webster

April 20, 2009

Drunk goggles were brought in and the 5th grade kids got to try them on to see what it’s like to look through the eyes of a drunk person. The goggles threw the kids off balance and while wearing them they had to attempt to do different things like making a basket with a small basket ball, walking a straight line of tape, and raising one foot up and balancing on the other while counting. The kids had lots of fun doing this and so did Miss Wilson and Miss Steward who also got to try on the goggles.

Quotes:

Pam- “It made my hand bigger.”

Noah- “I could barely stand up!”

Rachel- “They made my head hurt after awhile.”

Miss Steward- “The kids thought it was funny seeing Miss Wilson and I try to walk the line.”

Miss Steward- “I had to take my glasses off so I could put the goggles on. So I couldn’t even see the tape on the floor!”
