PHHS students participate in last weekend's townwide yard sales

by Leah Guthrie

Pleasant Hill was booming last week as the annual townwide yard sales had over 38 paid yard sales in town! The football boosters sold Krispy Kreme donuts and were completely sold out in an hour. The PHHS cheerleaders sold porkchop sandwiches and were also sold out by 12:30. The PHHS FFA sold plants and flowers in the old Messenger office.

"We had a great turnout for donuts! They were buying them as early as 6:30 a.m. in the morning and were sold out by 7:30 a.m. It was awesome," said football parent booster, Kelly Campbell.

"The cheerleaders sold out of porkchops by 12:30! We were pretty excited about that," said PHHS cheer sponsor Leah Guthrie. "I want to say a special thanks to my Dad, Arnold Gene, and the cheer dads Jamie DeCamp, Dale Johnson and Greg Brummell who manned the grills all day. Also a big thanks to all the cheer moms who helped during the day. Another special thanks Becky White and Tracey White and Todd and Becky Scranton, for helping me with all of the food pick-up and delivery. All the parents are awesome, just like their girls! I couldn't ask for a better group!"

The PHHS FFA had a great weekend with their flower sales. FFA sponsor Beth Arnold said, "I was very happy that so many people came and bought our flowers! We sold out of hanging baskets and even though it was a little cool, the students still came and worked and had a good time. We still have flowers left in our greenhouse that we would like to sell to the public. They are available every afternoon, just stop by the ag shop."
