Molly Turnbaugh, a 16 year-old junior at PHHS was crowned the 2009 Miss Pleasant Hill during a rainy Fourth of July Celebration in Pleasant Hill. Turnbaugh is the daughter of Kathy Eatock of Pleasant Hill and Bruce Turnbaugh of Griggsville.
Members of Turnbaugh's court include the following: Ami Davis (first runner-up and Miss Congeniality), Brittni Clendenny (second-runner up), Cassie Cathorall (third runner-up), Megan Wells (fourth runner-up), Leah Cathorall (fifth runner-up).
Sabrina Carsey was named 2009 Jr. Miss Pleasant Hill. Her parents are Alan and Leslie Carsey of Pleasant Hill. Her court included the following: Kelsey Whitaker (first runner-up), Taylor Knight (second runner-up), Brianna Howard (third runner-up and Miss Congeniality).
The pageant festivities had to be moved to the small gym at the high school at the last minute due to extremely heavy rains which make the park a soggy mess and potentially dangerous walking conditions due to the hillside. After the pageants, the two courts went to the park to have photos taken on the backdrop that was designed by kindergarten teacher, Daloris Picone. Pageant directors were Picone and Jessica Vetter.
