Student Council works to prevent Sexual Assualt

April was national Sexual Assault Awareness month so Quanada visited Student Council and asked them to do a few projects to raise awareness in the community. Thrilled to have another service project, they obliged. Brainstorming sessions eventually led to ideas and creative ways to discourage sexual and domestic violence. The group bought teal (the official color) t-shirts and each member designed their own. Sayings ranged from the number for Quanada to statistics like, "1 in 3 girls and 1 in 6 boys will be sexually abused." They also did a "clothesline project." To do this, they needed mini clothespins, paper cutouts of t-shirts, and even more creative brainwaves. Mrs. Morrow and Mrs. Orr, the sponsors of Student Council, decided to extend this to the entire school. Today in the halls you can see their work on display. Finally, a pledge was offered to every student and faculty member in the school. This pledge promised that you will not abuse anyone and you will do everything in your power to prevent it. On the bulletin board outside Mrs. Orr's room, you can see all of the pledges proudly displayed. Pleasant Hill has done their part this April.
