This is Halloween!

October 29, 2014

Student Council traditionally sponsors the Halloween costume contest which features winners in three categories that vary each year.  This year will be a special one for the school.  There's a few new tricks and treats that the Student Council bunch wants to debut this Halloween.

In years past, little has been done to prepare the school for All Hallow's Eve but step into any given section of the hall.  You'll see plenty of spiderwebs, spooky monsters, orange lights, and streamers everywhere.  Don't worry; everything is fake.  The scariest thing in this high school lurks behind Mr. Edwards' door!

For about a year, Student Council has been toying with the idea of "Candy-grams" for different holiday celebrations.  Until this year, it hasn't been put into motion.  So if you'd like to send a Halloween card to someone in the high school, contact Mrs. Orr or Mrs. Morrow for details.

Students are invited to dress-up on October 31st and compete for a pumpkin pie!  Winners will be selected from the following categories: Most Original, Scariest, and Best Group costumes.  The winner of each category will recieve a homemade pumpkin pie!  The competition will be during 8th hour so you MUST wear your costume all day in order to win.  We will be running on short day bell schedule specifically for this event.

Also, bring your talent and your spare change Friday morning.  There will be a Jack-o-Lantern contest starting 1st hour and ending right before the costume judging.  The pumpkins must be carved and entered in the contest first thing in the morning as the voting lasts all day.  To vote for your favorite carving, just put your change inside of the pumpkin.  At the end of the day, the pumpkin with the most money will be announced as the winner.  All of the money raised through this event will go towards funding the Christmas party (our fingers are crossed that we will have one this year).

Get your carving equipment and oil-based make-up ready because Student Council is making this Halloween BOO-tiful!
