PHHS students attend Makerfest

By Weston Richards

November 02, 2017

American manufacturing is making a comeback, and PHHS students recently learned about some opportunities in the local area.

On October 18, several Pleasant Hill students went to the Oakley Lindsay Center and John Wood Community College Workforce Development Center for Makerfest. Here, several manufacturing companies from the Quincy area reached out to the students about their industries, and teachers from JWCC showed the students how the college can help them prepare for a manufacturing career.

“It was very interesting,” said PHHS senior Dalton Crane. “It taught me a lot about what college would be like.”

Junior Isaiha Rogers enjoyed the demonstrations by teachers at the JWCC Workforce Development Center.

“My favorite part was the welding teacher and doing the welding simulator,” Rogers said. “I also liked sitting in the classroom and doing the 3D printing.”
