Resource Management classes visit Pike County Landfill

This fall Ms. Guthrie's Resource Management classes (and Parenting class) visited the Pike County Landfill in New Salem. The group was given a tour of the landfill and saw the new construction that was being done. They learned about what type of things can be taken to the dumpsite and what types of items are not accepted. The watched trucks dump the trash, the compacting by large equipment and the burial of the trash.
It was a great lesson in recycling and understanding how our choices make a difference. The group received Area Supply hats and pens from the Beard Family who was in charge of giving the tour.
