Heartbreaking loss for Lady Wolves senior night

The Lady Wolves headed into their last regular season game with high hopes of taking home a victory for their last home game of the seniors career. The Silex Owls came to play, too, which made for one of the most physical and exciting games of the season.
Seniors, Macey Black, Madison Black, Alexis Damon and Paige Allen hit the court with a vengeance playing tough offense and defense against a big Silex team.
The first quarter found the Lady Wolves trailing the Lady Owls by one point. Half-time scores were 20-17, but the Lady Wolves would not stay down. The game was extremely physical with many fouls going unnoticed as it was hard for the referees to keep up with the intense action from both sides of the ball. Paige Allen says, "Wow, what a football game, the intensity on the court was tremendous."
The second half of the game was even more physical than the first half. "I think we really wanted to win that game because it was our senior night, but we just couldn't get our free throws to fall in. It was disappointing, but I am proud of our team," said Alexis Damon.
Damon, who was high point scorer with 14 points, was pitted against Silex's 6'2 (plus) post player. Damon and Allen contained their post keeping the inside game to minimum for the Lady Owls. All of the scoring came from the seniors with Macey Black adding 6 points, Paige Allen with 5, and Madison Black with 4 points. Sophomore Janessa Edwards chipped in a bunny to total out the scoring for the Lady Wolves.
The heartbreaking part of the game came in the final one second of the fourth quarter as the Wolves were holding a 31-30 lead. Silex's coach put in their best three point shooter hoping that she would be able to get her hands on the ball. Unfortunately, she did and launched a rainbow shot that fell for the Owls with less than one second on the clock. The final score of the game was 33-31.
