2009 OAKEN BUCKET CHAMPIONS!

The Wolves fans in the area have much to cheer about this week as their favorite team brought home the Ol’ Oaken Bucket Friday night after defeating a tough Calhoun Warrior team on Harris Franklin Field. What made the victory even sweeter was the fact that is was also homecoming for the Wolves!
It was what many Wolves fans felt would possibly be the game of the year for the Wolves. It was a “make or break” game for the Wolves that would set the tone for the rest of the season.
The first quarter was a clash of the titans as both teams came out scoring twice. The Wolves scored on a 25 yard touchdown pass from Wolves quarterback Dylan McKinnon to Jayson Carlton. Evan Borrowman also struck pay dirt as he caught another pass from McKinnon for 45 yards.
The second quarter was all Wolves, all the time! The Wolves defensive line held solid as they did not let the Warriors score at all during the second quarter. McKinnon threw another touchdown pass to Borrowman making the score 21-14 in favor of the Wolves.
Whatever Coach Payton told his Warriors in the locker room must have gotten them fired up enough to stop the Wolves drive during the third quarter. But nothing was going to stop Big Blue from getting that bucket back in the halls of PHHS! The Wolves scored again in the fourth quarter as Dylan McKinnon, as KHQA’s Chris Duerr says “rambled and scrambled and Earl Campbelled” his way into the end zone on a three yard run.
Sealing the deal on each play was junior kicker Cody Clendenny who went 4-4 on extra point attempts for the Wolves!
Wolves fans will travel to “the ditch” to watch their team clinch the WIVC South title as the Blue and Gold set their sites on a traditionally tough Greenfield Tiger team.
