FFA Barnyard Petting Zoo 2011

By Arnold, Beth

March 14, 2011

The Pleasant Hill FFA barnyard petting zoo was held Thursday, March 10 in the PHHS ag shop. The event is usually held on Friday of FFA week, which was Friday, February 25.  However, that was a snow day for Pleasant Hill schools so the event had to be rescheduled.  This year, Sarah Mowen brought a crossbred calf, Autumn Crowder brought her horse Dixie, Shelby Johns brought her goat Beautiful, Janessa Edwards brought five beagle puppies, Kara Law brought her boxer pup Hank, Whitney Crowder brought her puppy Annie, Cara Hill brought her puppy Casey and teacher Dave Young brought his goat Goatie.  Also, Kris Mooney brought several animals, including a pony, a donkey, two llamas, a mama goat with twins and three chickens.

Elementary classes pre-K through fourth grade attended the zoo and enjoyed seeing the variety of animals.

Kindergarteners, left to right, Thorne Holcomb, Jared Goewey, Carter Dolbeare and Nathan Bower check out one of the llamas brought to the FFA petting zoo by Kris Mooney.  Mooney also brought a pony, a donkey, three fluffy chickens and a mama goat with twins.  The FFA appreciates Mooney's help at the petting zoo!

Sophomore FFA member Austin Crowder pets his sister Autumn's horse, Dixie.  It was just about time for Dixie to be shown off to the elementary school students!
