SSG Patrick talking to Mr. Young

PHHS Students get to learn a little about forensics

December 03, 2013

Students at the high school got to replace their normal science classes with little class on forensics at the end of November. SSG Patrick came to school and took over the lab to teach some pretty interesting things. After watching about 10 minutes of video on how soldiers handle crime scenes, students got to put their detective caps on. SSG Patrick had brought with him two tiles, among many other tools and papers. He would leave his finger prints on them or have a student do it then he showed everyone how to find them. He went through the process of shaking the powder, how to use the brush, and finally how to find and remove the fingerprints. Students then got to take over and see just how well they would do if they were put in the position to dust for prints. SSG Patrick talked about many other things as well. He answered questions from students that sometimes got pretty gruesome and just had fun with the classes. Everyone enjoyed their break from normal science classes as well as meeting SSG Patrick and learning some new and interesting things.
