Even though classes have resumed, everyone still giggles about this year's Homecoming and the crazy things that happened that week.
Seniors kept the lead all five days during Spirit Week because of their high percentage of participation. Other classes shuffled around between the last three placements. This year, the Bonfire was held indoors due to nasty weather with no fire and minimal running. Senior participation in the Bonfire reached an all time low for that class with only ten people who showed up. The Sophomores won the Spirit Stick that night and the King (Kyle Mowen), Queen (Ashley Holcomb), and Senior Flower Girl (Sarah Calvin) were revealed.
The floats were also different from any other year because of their locations. Seniors were not in the Ag shop as they have been in years past. The Senior, Junior, and Sophomore floats were all squished into the big bus barn. The Freshmen had their float location changed twice due to the rain and didn't even get to build on campus.
Who could forget the second day of Homecoming Week when the Seniors came to school to find all of their decorations sabotaged by the "class of 2018"? Many derogatory remarks were made and most of the good natured Spirit was washed from windows but the class of 2018 was cleared of all charges when outside culprits came forth.
Seniors spent Friday building the Homecoming dance and their skit props. The pep rally that day proved to be a complete flop for their skit as some actors were a little nervous. Freshmen wowed the crowd with a dance in their skit. (Look it up on Facebook. You won't regret it!) Juniors featured some interesting voices in their performance and Sophomores had an action packed skit as well.
Even though our football boys lost the game, everyone had a blast preparing for it all that week. It was far from the traditional Homecoming at Pleasant Hill but it was everything it was supposed to be: memorable and fun!
