The Gym is a Rockin...
The Pleasant Hill High School Gymnasium is now equipped with speakers that will literally "rock the house." The gym is now home to 4 - Peavey Impulse speakers that are hung from the rafters. Charlie Dolbeare of Golden Road Productions came in and offered his expertise with hanging the speakers to get the right sound, volume, and movement. The maintenance crew as well as Principal Lowe and Superintendent Edwards also helped in running new wire and hanging the speakers.
The old speakers in the gym were in disarray. Speaker wire was worn out and even cut in places to let some of the speakers work. Also, the old speakers were hung more vertically instead of slanted to get the right bounce off the walls and bleachers. Therefore, it was hard to hear when it came to athletic events, music programs, or other activities held in the gym. The new speakers can be heard in the gym and even down the hallways at P.H.H.S.
The Peavey speakers were bought mostly with money raised from vendor fees for the "Blue & Gold" Holiday Gift Show. A little over $1500 was raised from holding the Holiday Gift Show for three years. When the first show was held in 2008, Gift Show organizers saw a need for gym speakers and made a fund to save for the speakers. After just 3 years, it was finally made a reality. This wouldn't have been able to be accomplished without first the vendors coming and setting up their wares at the show and also those in the community who helped support the vendors.
So, whether you are coming to a ball game, music program, graduation or other activity at P.H.H.S., you will now be able to hear wherever you are seated.
