The Greatest Showcase Debuts at PHHS
March 01, 2019
The Greatest Showcase debuted at PHHS on Thursday evening, February 28 amid a warm stage for thirty students in the small gym . The first act began with the students vocalizing "Come Alive" by songwriters Justin Paul and Benj Pasek which was originally written for the 2017 hit musical "The Greatest Showman." High school chorus members performed fifteen songs by various artists in the first act which featured solos by senior Kaylee Smith (singing "Tin Man" by Miranda Lambert) and sophomore Kalista Crowder (singing "Fate" by singer/songwriter H.E.R.).
The second act began with a powerful performance by female chorus members singing "This is Me" (also by songwriters Justin Paul and Benj Pasek) and continued with fourteen more songs by various artists. A crowd favorite for the second act was definitely the parody of popular song, "Hello," called "Hello Cravings," (by Adele) performed by Kaylee Smith and junior Sydney Clendenny as well as Wade Barnes' performance of "I don't have to be me 'til Monday" (Steve Azar).
"The Greatest Showcase" continues tonight (Friday, March 1) and tomorrow (Saturday, March 2) in the small gymnasium at PHHS. Ticket prices are $7 for adults and $5 for students. Doors open at 6, and the show starts at 7. Come One! Come All! to the Greatest Showcase!
